Thread: When to show your stats?

  1. When to show your stats?

I have been trying to decide on when to show my feedburner stats on my main blog page. I've read articles that say show it from day one and others that say wait until you get X number of subscribers.

    Any opinions from you guys?

I don't show my stats and doubt I ever will. I don't have any deep reason to show them or not so I can't really impart any wisdom here..

Maybe I should exit the thread quietly and pretend I wasn't here!

I think that once they show somekind of steady growth over time you can show them.
Showing them when they stay on 5 or 10 for weeks won't help much, but showing your stats growing can help you gain authority and readership.

@hannit - thanks, was going to hold off for a while, just wasn't sure how long.

My reasoning for wanting to show my stats is at some point in the future I would like to add some advertising.

I waited until I had at least 50 subscribers, I felt that any less than that and I was advertising my lack of visitors! :-)

You don't necessarily need to show your stats on your site to add advertising. As long as you have the numbers and reports to prove it, you can simply show the numbers to your advertisers should they request proof that you have X number of subscribers.

I do show my stats, and I get comments and email congratulations when I reach a new milestone

My reasoning is here but I wouldn't ever say it was something you have to do

  10. I wrote an article few days ago which also had about when to show your stats.

In my opinion, I would show the feedburner stats only after 500 subscribers. Now 500 would be a big number, but if you want to be a professional blogger, you would reach it in no time. Aim for reaching 500 and then display it. Please don't think you can never reach it. Also there are few other stats which I'll think twice before showing it in my blog.

    Alexa:
Though this is not a correct measure, people do see it. And if it like 6 or 7 digits, people think your blog is not good. So it is better to show if you blog's alexa rank is less than 100,000.

    Technorati:
I know few people who like to show their technorati stats from beginning. But it is not a good habit. I would show the stats only after my blog's rank is less than 20,000.

If there is any other stats I have missed, please do tell me.
