Will You Rush To BlogRush?

Hi Folks

I've just posted on my blog about a new blog network which I really believe will take the blogosphere by storm:
http://www.internetinfluencemagic.co...-blog-network/

John Reese, the creator of this network, is a very smart guy with over a decade of experience marketing on the Internet. So expect this network to do very well.

When I first heard about this I thought, "Oh no, not another blogging network" - but this one is very different!

Let me know what you think of it.

Oh, by the way (cheap publicity alert), I'd love if you were to sign up under me - it's free, anyway - but you don't have to.

But... pwetty pweease?

I think this is going to be B-I-G when you read about the features.

This network presupposes that you are linked with blogs of similar interest and quality. And I would not like the idea of blog posts showing up in a widget over whose content I had no control.

Blogrush - Free Traffic for Your Blog

Hello,

I've read this article about a new blog syndicate on Internetbabel Blog... great method... Briliant! Tell me what you think:

----------------------------
This is a new idea from ]John Reese. The well known Internet marketer, anyone who has been in it for a while will know and have a great amount of respect for him. I only actually heard of him recently… ish but have been impressed with everything i’ve seen from him.

If you have heard of him recently then it will probably be in relation to his new site income.com which has been in sub-launch mode for longer than I can remember but looks like it will be amazing.

Anyway, this new idea is going to be part of the ‘income.com network’ and it will launch 14th September… mid-day (US time) I’m actually in the UK so it will be a different time for me… but anyway, that’s when it launches.

This new idea is going to be a sort of… traffic sharing network for bloggers. Basically you sign up (for free) and grab some javascript code for the widget, put the widget on your blog and that widget then displays relevant posts on relevant blogs. Also you get syndication credits for people you refer to blog rush which will build up and ultimately get you more traffic. You can see an image of the widget below:

So if somebody clicks ‘Add Your Blog Posts - FREE’ or the BlogRush tab then that counts as a referral as they can tell what blog it came from.

You will also be able to filter out certain keywords so that no posts with those keywords appear on your widget and you can even filter out specific blogs.

Personally I think this is a great innovation and I think it will become huge. It’s got a huge viral aspect, it’s free and it gets you free traffic. You actually give your readers relevant posts, targeted relevant posts as aposed to just ads so i’m sure that will be a good thing which people will latch on to.

The only downside I can actually pick out is the fact that your sending people to potentially competitors blogs, I mean you can filter out what you want but still… your inviting competition which brings me to a new point that this will actually make people try harder! so forget that downside I think this may actually improve any blog that uses it as you will want to be better than anyone else in your widget.

Amazing innovation from John Reese, bloggers get ready to sign up soon! - Blogrush.com

Also keep a close eye on income.com which will be launching after this and should be amazing.

-----------------------------

End.

I tend to agree with Mark, I would worry about the kind of blogs that were showing up in the widget. One of the problems with existing networks has been the content of some avatars. Admittedly, this is something those networks are dealing with, but I think it could be a bigger problem if the links in the widget go directly to another blog rather than a page on the network site. I have read that you can blacklist certain urls but if you have to do so manually it sounds rather cumbersome and time consuming.

I agree with Mark too about the "other peoples content" aspect, I'm not sure what to make about it. Seems a sound enough idea, other than that, it's mainly just the multi-level aspect that worries me ... a little pyramidish?

I have added it to my personal blog to check it out, dare not risk it on any of the others!

Oh, and don't add it if you are looking to increase your technorati rank or backlinks, the links are javascript so don't get counted

Well, I personally don't trust the widget to link stories that are similar to mine and display them on my blog. And looking at the widget on Chris' personal, I kinda confirmed that too.

Chris, your question about it being "a little pyramidish" is an excellent one. No money is being exchanged, so it hasn't crossed the legal line, but you've hit the nail on the head in terms of the cost-benefit ratio for people who join further on down the line.

I understand why you might be concerned. However, I see it as an advanced article exchange network, without the manual labour

As to the "pyramid" aspect... it's ultimately an incentive for early adoption. But I think that late adopters can still benefit, since the ratios are weighted in favour of your immediate referrers...

Your Traffic = 1:1
1st Generation Of Referrals = 1:1
2nd Generation Of Referrals = 1:1
3rd - 6th Generation Of Referrals = 1:4
7th - 10th Generation Of Referrals = 1:8

That seems quite fair. And it still gives Mr Latecomer decent referral credits for any immediate referrals they make, while rewarding Miss Quick.

I think John intends to put more security in place, to prevent abuse of the system. After all, once it gets big, there WILL be people trying to game it - it's inevitable. So I suspect you will get a lot more control of what can and can't be displayed.

In the end, I don't mind giving it a try... but given John Reese (who owns income.com) I definitely know BlogRush is here to stay, love it or hate it

I stuck in on Blogging Blog, just to see how it would work -- and since this blog has been quiet for so long & I'm trying to reactivate it, I'm willing to give this a try -- but --

It is a pyramid, and I think the concerns stated above are reasonable ones. I hadn't thought about the risk of going directly to a site, site-unseen. I have removed similar widgets in the past due to offensive (or blinking) avatars.

Also, I think the widget is ugly.

Which matters to me.
