I have made a promise to my readers that every month I will reward the most active commentator with 50% of all the earnings my blog has made. So far I have had some good responses to this, do you guys think this will be more beneficial in the long run ?
JohnCow.com started as a joke in the first place. Even having to halve the income, I feel with this incentive more income can be generated, and I'd like to give something back to those who made it possible in the first place.
Great forum by the way
This is good idea. But it may lead to spam comments. As Chris said rewarding the best comment would be a great idea. Also give a chance to one of your blog commentators to do a guest post and it might get them good traffic and link back.
visitors supposed to leave their comments because of their opinion on post or blog, not because somebady is paying them. that makes fake comments / fake opinion / fake commune..
Hi John
I am one of regular reader to your blog. From the readers perspective, I don't feel comfortable to make comments when you offer half the earnings you make as incentives.
I really visit your blog to read your resourceful contents and learn something from you. Do you think this campaign brings really quality readers to your blog?
I still think you'll find people posting purely for the money as appose to having a real interest. Not that I would, but I could post replies to everything and sound interested even if I wasn't.
I have no doubt it'll build traffic but is it the sort of traffic you want? and do you want to commit to losing 50% of your earnings each month?
